Hard News Huntington Story

A gun accidentally went off last night in Barstow, California, at a woman named Janice Jones’s mobile home. At the time Jones was with her dog eating pork chops and she was parked on Beach Boulevard near Highway 1. Her dog, a Pomeranian named Tombo, knocked her 9mm handgun off the seat and it discharged as it hit the floor. The shot went through Jones’s right leg and into the side of the vehicle.

This happened around 10 p.m. on Wednesday. Rye a highway Patroller said that, “It could have been much worse...The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank.” Jones was check into Huntington beach Hospital and was later moved to Irvine Medical Center. As for her dog, Tombo sent to the Huntington Beach Animal Control officers where he was inspected. The dog was malnourished and had fresh cigarette burns on its forehead. Because of this Jones could possibly have an animal abuse charge filed against her. Janet Ngo, and animal control officer said,” It could have done with a little less abuse and a few more of those pork chops.” Besides the animal abuse Jones also had expired plates and, “Jones doesn’t have a permit for the gun.” The county’s district attorney’s office was considering whether or not to charge Jones for her part in the gun accident.
