1. Is there something you see in the photo above that you think could be a problem when you take your photos? Look carefully. The spacing could be off and the background could look oddly cut off.  2. Where do you think would be a great place to take this type of picture here on the Bowie campus? On the stairs or against a wall would be nice and easy to edit. 3. My 2 favorite tips are- 1. Introduce a Prop Add a prop  of some kind into your shots and you create another point of interest that can enhance your shot. Yes you might run the risk of taking too much focus away from your main subject but you could also really add a sense of story and place to the image that takes it in a new direction and gives the person you’re photographing an extra layer of depth that they wouldn’t have had without the prop. 2. Setting  The settings in which you make pictures of people are important because they add to the viewer's understanding of your subject. The room in which a person lives or works, their house, the city street they walk, the place in which they seek relaxation—whatever it is, the setting provides information about people and tells us something about their lives. Seek balance between subject and environment. Include enough of the setting to aid your image, but not so much that the subject is lost in it. Environmental Portra...

Ansel Adams Ansel Easton Adams was born on February 20th, 1902 in San Francisco, California. He was the only child of Olive Bray, and Charles Adams, who was a lumber businessman. Though he tried to go to school, he gave up and was eventually homeschooled by his father and aunt. At age 12 he taught himself how to play the piano, and was going to continue a career as a musician before he discovered his love for photography. In 1915, at age 14, he was given a camera as a gift but it wasn’t until the 1920’s that he decided to give up piano to become a photographer. He married Virginia Best in 1928 and in 1935 her father passed away and she inherited his studio. It was called “Best Studio” and the Adamses continued to operate it until 1971. It is now the Ansel Adams Gallery and houses some of his best photography work. It was between 1929 and 1942 that Adames career really took off and he became more widely known.
